Day 19 Challenge
When they crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: “this is jesus, the king of the jews”
Matthew 27:35-37

Clue: Shake me, roll me, what will I be? Snake eyes or doubles?

Wait and see! What am I?

Day 18 Challenge

They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.   Matthew 27:28-29

One touch will make you frown. I’m not meant to be twisted into a crown. What am I? (if you can’t take a picture of this, you can post your answer)

Day 17 Challenge
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples saying, “Take and eat, this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”   Matthew 26:26-28
If you put roast in a roaster, what do you put in a toaster?
Day 16 Challenge
Watch for clues as we journey through the story of Easter this entire week in this fun Scavenger Hunt.  Take a picture that you think answers the clue and post it in the comments. If you are not in the picture, please tell me who is posting! We will use #spencerkids and I will post a new clue every day.

Then one of the Twelve – the one called Judas Iscariot – went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. Matthew 26:14-15

CLUE #1: I’m shiny and round. I have a head and a tail. Sometimes you throw me into a wishing well.
Day 15 Challenge

“I have called you by name, you are Mine.” Isaiah 43:1

Search for an item in your house that begins with the same letter as your name. Pose for a picture with your item and post with the hashtag #spencerkidsname
Always remember that God loves you and God knows your name!
Day 14 Challenge

Rejoice Always (even when you can’t find matching socks)

Today’s challenge is to show me your mismatched socks.  Bonus points if you can get an adult in your house to show their mismatched socks with you! Post your photo with hashtag #spencerkidsrejoice or send to Kelly by text or email!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances.

Day 11 Challenge

We are beginning a new week!  It’s time for an easy challenge to celebrate all that we have done for the last two weeks.

Psalm 100 begins “Make a joyful noise to the Lord”  Show me your most joyful expression with the hashtag #spencerkidsjoy
Day 10 Challenge
It’s the end of Week 2, so it’s time for a simple challenge! It’s Wacky Hair Day
God even counts every hair on your head! So don’t be afraid. You are worth more than even the birds that God also created and loves.     Luke 12:7

Don’t be afraid.  Show me your most crazy, wacky hair and remember Luke 12:7 which tells us that God counts every hair on our heads.  Take a picture with your wacky hair (if your hair is too short, any type of hat will work) and post it with the hashtag #spencerkids

Bonus points are available for this challenge: one extra point for every additional person who is in your photo with wacky hair.
Day 9 Challenge
Jesus tells us to love our neighbor (and this doesn’t mean only the people who live next door).  During this time, while we cannot go to our neighbor’s house, we can still find other ways to show love.

Think about people who are by themselves right now, including our Nursing Home or Homebound friends (they don’t have to be related to Spencer). Let’s show love to them in a special way today. Find materials in your house to make a card or create a picture that will brighten their day, then mail it to them. If you need an address, let me know and I will get it to you. Let’s love our neighbors today! To complete the challenge, post or send me a picture of your efforts with the hashtag #spencerkidslove.

Day 8 Challenge

Alright friends, I think some of you are beginning to get a bit stir-crazy being at home. I wonder if your rooms are a mess!  I hope not because you are going to need to find some things to complete today’s challenge. There is a list of items included in my post.  Find as many of them as you can around your house. Gather all the items into one place and take a picture of your treasure!  Post your picture with the hashtag #spencerkidstreasure

You will earn one point for each item that you check off the list!  As you go on your treasure hunt, remember that God’s love is a treasure, and God gives us this treasure so that we always remember that God is with us.

Treasure is kept in clay jars. In the same way, we have the treasure of God’s good news in these earthly bodies of ours. The awesome power of God belongs to God and doesn’t come from us.  We are experiencing all kinds of trouble, but we aren’t crushed. We are confused, but we aren’t depressed.  We are harassed, but we aren’t alone. God does not abandon us. We are knocked down, but we aren’t knocked out.

2 Corinthians 4:7-9

Day 7 Challenge
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 instructs us “Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens.”

To earn points for this challenge, create a piece of art that shows what you are grateful for today. You can use any materials that you have, but ask your parents to take a picture of you with your creation and post it with the hashtag #spencerkidsgrateful

Day 6 Challenge
Today your challenge is to create a tower taller than you out of any materials in your home or yard.  Be careful and have your parents take a picture of you standing near your creation.  Post it the with hashtag #spencerkidstower or text it to Kelly to earn today’s points.

“The name of the Lord is like a strong tower. Godly people run to it and are safe.”  Psalm 28:7

Day 5 Challenge

Today’s challenge is about worship.  Just because we are not meeting at church like we normally do, doesn’t mean that we are not worshipping God.  The last time we met for Children’s Choir, we talked about worship and watched a video about worship.  We learned that we can worship ANYWHERE!

Sunday, you can worship with us by watching the Facebook service or by listening to us on the radio.  Find a spot at home that you can use to worship God.  Think about some of the things that you can put in this spot to help you worship.  Make a list of your ideas and post it so we can help each other get ready to worship. Be creative.
Post with the hashtag #spencerkidsworship

We won’t have challenges over the weekend, but you can get BONUS POINTS by posting a picture of yourself watching/listening to worship on Sunday. Just use the same hashtag. #spencerkidsworship

Day 4 Challenge

The sun has been shining today!  I am thinking about the verse in Psalm 118:24 that says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Today’s challenge is simple.  Go outside for a few minutes and enjoy what God has made.  Have someone take a picture of you enjoying God’s creation.  Post it to the Spencer Facebook page with the hashtag #spencerkidsrejoice or text it to Kelly before the end of the day.

Day 3 Challenge – Read the scripture listed, then complete the challenge! Parents may need to help younger kids.

Romans 8:38-39 (NIRV)
“I am absolutely sure that not even death or life can separate us from God’s love. Not even angels or demons, the present or the future, or any powers can separate us. Not even the highest places or the lowest, or anything else in all creation can separate us. Nothing at all can ever separate us from God’s love. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.”

Draw a picture that represents God’s love for us.  It may be something as simple as a heart or a cross, or as detailed as the complete story of Jesus.  Take a picture of it and post it with today’s hashtag (#spencerkidsgodiswithus).  Bonus points if you are in the picture, too!  Then hang your picture in a place that you will see several times a day.  Each time you see it, remember that nothing at all can separate us from God – not even being separated from each other and from the church building.

Day 2 Challenge

Since we did not have our Sunday School lesson this past weekend, let’s all read the Bible passage at home.  You can find it in the New Testament, in the book of Luke.  Find chapter 2 and read verses 1 – 20. You should recognize the story!!!

To earn points for today’s challenge, have someone take your picture reading the Bible Story.  To earn 5 bonus points, tell me what the story is when you post you picture. Remember to put the hashtag for today in your post:  #spencerkidsbiblestory

Post to Spencer Facebook page or text to Kelly (828)429-0124 to earn your points!!
