Welcome. We are so glad that you have chosen to visit our site. I have been with Spencer for nine years. Before that I served three churches in South Carolina. Prior to entering the ministry, I was a social worker with Social Services and a probation officer for youthful offenders. I received my college degree from Carson Newman College and my graduate work was done at both the Baptist Seminary in Louisville,Kentucky, and the Columbia Presbyterian Seminary in Atlanta,Georgia. I have provided counseling services to both members and nonmembers of my churches throughout my ministry. I would consider it a real joy to hear from you and to meet you if you decide to visit us. Music has always been a vital part of the life of Spencer Baptist Church. There are musical opportunities for every person of every age from 2 to 102. Whether you sing, play an instrument, ring in a handbell choir, or just enjoy music, there is a place for you. Currently, there are 3 children’s choirs, adult choir, a handbell choir and various vocal and instrumental ensembles. If you would like to know more about any of the opportunities, please feel free to give me a call at 828-286-2355 or send me an email at ktsettlemyre@aol.com or through the Contact form on the Contact Us page. 

I came to Spencer in 1986 with the main job of working with youth. Over the years, this has evolved into a ministry with children, youth and senior adults. How cool is that? A chance to work with all ages! Our philosophy of ministry with all these groups is sort of like this: We seek to have a balance of Bible study, missions, discipleship and recreation. We have to know what the Bible teaches, how to use it, and how to share it. Then there is the time we must re-create ourselves. We try to help everyone have a great time, no matter what we are doing. We invite you to come and experience the ministries of Spencer Baptist. Whether you are young or old, we have a place for you.
